What are vestibular disorders ?
The vestibular system includes parts of the inner ear and brain that help control balance and eye movements. If the system is damaged by disease, aging or injury, a vestibular disorder can result.
The symptoms of a vestibular disorder may be frightening to describe. Common symptoms include vertigo and dizziness. Vertigo is a spinning or whirling sensation, or an illusion of the self or world moving. Dizziness is a lightheaded, floating, or rocking sensation. Poor balance, nausea, visual disturbances, headaches, hearing loss, tinnitus, and pain or fullness in the ears can also accompany vestibular disorders.
